Janine Riggs grew up on a small estate in Kelso, Washington, riding horses in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Her creative spirit showed even as a child as she acted in plays and wrote a few herself, and illustrated a childrens book. Her mother and teachers inspired her to pursue acting as early as elementary school. She also counts music among her many talents. Coming from a family where both her parents and her grandfather were professional musicians, Riggs says it wasnt exactly a choice, it was simply whom she wanted to emulate.
She had a wide-range of interests in her college career as she earned a degree in mutual fund accounting and studied pre-law, pre-med, creative writing, television and radio broadcasting at several colleges. She also trained as an actress in Sanford Meisner technique with Larry Silverberg at Seattle's Bell Town Theater Center, and has been in two movies prior to No Pain, No Gain, Flop House and Different.
Riggs doesn't spend much time plopped down in front of a
television. When she's not in front of the camera working, she
prefers relaxing with a quick nap, working out with free weights,
taking a brisk walk or studying martial arts. So far she has a
green belt in Tae Kwon Do and has won gold in sparring!
Riggs says she prides herself on not only being alive but truly living and constantly challenging herself to move her best self forward. That mindset applies to anything from the large aspects of life to the small, practical ones, like being able to change the oil herself on her RX7. Riggs attitude is never say never and keep on smiling.
